The first heat wave of the summer is rolling up the East Coast. One of the best ways you can combat the heat is through your diet and eating lighter foods like salads rather than comfort food like mac 'n' cheese.
To begin with, eating lots of vegetables and fruit keeps you hydrated in hot weather. There is a ton of water in fruits and veggies which helps replace water you lose when you are sweating.
A second reason is the temperature of the food won't raise up your own body temperature so you aren't making yourself feel hotter.
And lastly, by creating a salad or wrap you keep the oven off in your house, making it much easier to keep your surroundings as cool as possible.
